Music to celebrate the magic and mystery of Advent. The diverse program includes Haydn’s Orgelmess (“Little Organ Mass), Elgar’s lush The Snow, Laudate Pueri by Mozart, a rich and complex version of In Dulci Jubilo for double choir by Praetorius, music from the Rachmaninoff Vespers, Britten’s Hymn to the Virgin, & Gordon Lightfoot’s atmospheric Song for a Winter’s Night. The performance ends with Elaine Hagenburg’s magnificent The Music of Stillness, a setting of poetry by Sarah Teasdale.
90 minutes in length, with no intermission.
