Victoria, BC — SoulFire, Victoria’s acclaimed funk, soul, and jazz ensemble, made its debut appearance at the Butchard Gardens Concert Bowl on Friday, August 14, 2026.
Managed by bassist Steve Duben and featuring vocalist and flautist Brenda Morie, SoulFire has become a standout act in Victoria’s vibrant music scene. Known for its groove-driven originals and inventive interpretations, the band has built a loyal following through multiple sold-out performances at Hermann’s Jazz Club.
Fresh off a successful performance at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock and a recent appearance at The CODA in Victoria, SoulFire continues to win over new audiences with its eclectic repertoire.The core sextet draws inspiration from artists including The Crusaders, Joe Sample, Randy Crawford, Nina Simone, Herbie Hancock, Herbie Mann, Peter Gabriel, Natalie Cole, and Steely Dan. The result is a sophisticated yet accessible sound that resonates with fans of funk, R&B, and soul, blending classic 1970s influences with contemporary jazz-rock sensibilities.
