Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performer Terry Robb at 9:00pm; Friendship Hall (formerly Norway House) 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door

Terry Robb is hailed as a blues guitar virtuoso and one of the finest acoustic guitarists on the international scene. The Vancouver-born, Portland-based bluesman has been praised by The Blues Foundation, Rolling Stone, Acoustic Guitar, Down Beat, Guitar Player, Vintage Guitar, Living Blues, and even Oprah’s O Magazine, all extolling his talents as a finger-picker, singer, songwriter, arranger and producer!

During his multi-decade run in the spotlight, Terry has shown himself to be a master of nearly every blues style and technique imaginable. His original tunes draw on influences as varied as country blues to Coltrane, ragtime to Hendrix, Americana to American Primitivism.

Terry’s new album, Howlin' Waters, pays homage to two of the definitive pillars of the blues, and while there are no actual covers of Wolf or Muddy, Terry expertly shows the unmistakable imprint and influence these giants (and blues in general) have had on practically every genre of modern American music.
