Event Description
Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performer Virgil Brown at 9:00pm; Friendship Hall (formerly Norway House) 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door
Canadian singer-songwriter, veteran performer from street corner to cafe to concert hall, open-tuning finger-style guitarist extrordinaire, and song-writing machine, Virgil Brown brings his one-man show to the VFMS stage tonight! With a voice that's been compared to Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits and an easy-going friendly style reminiscent of John Prine, Virgil engages his audience with humor and flair. A superb singer and musician, this wayfaring world traveler will take you on a journey from his rural roots in Canada, all the way to Paris and back again, braiding songs and stories together into a rich, compelling performance.
Virgil Brown’s Wildwood Flower One-Man Show is not to be missed! Come, listen, be captivated, and be assured you will sing along! Want a preview? Check out Virgil’s latest album, Banjo Moon, on-line @virgilbrown.ca
