Join a special 3-day workshop with internationally acclaimed watercolor artist Michael Solovyev, set in the vibrant and scenic city of Victoria, BC.

Michael Solovyev, acclaimed for his mastery in capturing the essence of landscapes and reflections with watercolors, will guide you through the nuances of painting stunning water scenes. This masterclass is designed to enrich your technique, from understanding color harmony to mastering the delicate balance of light and shadow, ensuring your landscapes evoke emotion and realism.

Hosted at the inspiring McTavish Academy of Art, this immersive course is designed to help you paint expressive, atmospheric urban landscapes — both in the studio and out on location.
Whether you're just discovering cityscapes or refining your personal style, this workshop combines expert guidance, live demonstrations, and hands-on experience in a welcoming and creative environment.

Workshop Structure:
Day 1 & 2: In-studio sessions at McTavish Academy of Art — with in-depth demonstrations, color theory, composition planning, and guided practice .
Day 3: Plein air painting session outdoors — capturing the charm, architecture, and ambiance of Victoria’s beautiful streets and waterfront with real-time feedback from the instructor.

How to build a color palette that reflects mood and light
Expressive brushwork for capturing the soul of the city
Techniques for painting in various lighting conditions (sunlight, evening, overcast)
How to simplify urban scenes and highlight your focal point
Creating depth, atmosphere, and storytelling in your compositions
How to confidently paint outdoors, even in changing conditions

Dates: August 1–3, 2025, from 10AM to 5AM with a lunch break.
