| Akylore User Info... | A classical masterpiece. So epic. Based on a Finnish saga, the Kalevala, this piece recounts the tale of the character Kullervo, who was raised by his uncle, who claims to have killed his family. Kullervo is then sold off as a child-slave and becomes a nomad. He then plots his revenge. On the way, he unknowingly seduces his sister, who then kills herself after finding out. Kullervo then blames his family's misfortune on his uncle and then exacts his revenge. After returning home from the war he finds his own family dead, and then he kills himself. The piece has a very upbeat song structure, again, I hate to be repetitive, but it's epic. That's the easiest way to describe it. Symphonic, epic, adventurous classical music, without being dainty. The structure and the concept bring Basil Poledouris' Conan soundtrack to mind. Very worthy. Grab it. 9/10 - Wed, 25 Feb 2004 11:44am | ||
